HNBA – Region I Highlights Attorney Moreno

Today, as the last day of #HispanicHeritageMonth, we highlight Janeth Moreno, founder of Moreno Law, an immigration law practice and V.P. of theMassachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys. She is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School and an advocate for protecting immigrant rights.
What inspired you to be a lawyer?
I always wanted to help the most vulnerable people. I knew the great necessity that existed in my own community in Mexico. It was hard to see how people born in remote areas without access to education would later become targets for human rights violations. This inspired me to pursue higher education so I could make an impact and when I found my passion in immigration law I knew this was my calling for the community.
What is one piece of advice that you would give a new lawyer?
Be curious, take risks, try to get experience in different areas of practice, identify your strengths and use them to find your passion. Surround yourself with great lawyers, people who you admire and respect. Build a network of mentors, they can support you and enhance your practice. Give back to your community and always help whenever possible. When networking with others, offer your time and expertise without expecting something in return.
